Every automation has a section called Take them out of this automation when.
Add a rule and pick the event:
- They buy something
- A tag is added to them
- They join a list
- They click a link
Leave the detail box empty to mean any, or fill it in to match one thing, for example a product name, a tag such as customer, a list, or part of a link.
Why this is better than an If and Else:
An If and Else is only checked when somebody arrives at it, so the next email can still go out before the check is reached. That also means repeating the same check in front of every remaining email.
An exit rule is checked the moment the event happens. A buyer stops receiving the rest of a sales sequence straight away.
Nobody is deleted, unsubscribed or removed from any list. They simply stop moving through that one automation, and the report records why they left.
You can add several rules to one automation, and each automation has its own.
