A level is a named group. Content is protected for levels, and members hold levels. An access check passes when any one of a member's levels matches, so somebody holding Gold and Course Members sees everything either level unlocks.
There is no limit on how many levels you create.
Level options:
- Name and slug: the slug is what you use in shortcodes, as in raxm_protect level equals gold
- Status: an inactive level grants nobody access, without you having to delete it
- Expires after N days: memberships added from then on lapse automatically after that many days. A daily task marks them expired. 0 means never
- Allow free registration: turns on the registration form for that level, which is how a free tier that feeds your paid ones works
- After login, after registration and after logout redirects: per level, each falling back to the global setting when empty
- Sort order: which level wins when a member holds several and only one redirect can apply
Redirects when somebody holds several levels:
By default the first level by sort order with a redirect set wins. There is a setting that changes this so that per level redirects only apply to members holding a single level, and everybody with several lands on your global page instead. That avoids an arbitrary choice between two of somebody's levels.
Deleting a level:
Deleting removes its member rows and detaches it from protected content. Content that was protected only by that level stays locked to administrators. It never silently goes public, which is the failure mode that matters.
Paid levels:
Once Stripe is connected, every level also gains a price block. Leaving the price at 0 keeps the level free and completely unchanged. See the guides on charging for membership and paid levels.
